Knotted Shawl is a large colored pencil drawing. Someone gave me the shawl and I happened to have an old dress form. I draped the shawl on the form and knotted it. This drawing took a while to do but I loved doing it.. Drawing is very meditative, meditation keeps you young and far more relaxed. I used Prismacolor pencils for most of my colored pencil drawings.
I started this drawing about 5 or 6 years ago. I would take it out and look at it and put it away. Last year I started doing small colored pencils drawings and took this pencil drawing out and started on it again. I think it came out pretty good, a lot of people liked it. I hung it for this years featured artist show. After I finished with the show I went back to oils and I want to do my dog Missy with Acrylics. I do keep out of mischief but I will say teaching four classes is a bit much for me. I love my artists, they are so wonderful but my energy level just peters out.
A colored pencil drawing that I did for the featured artist show at East Colony Fine Art gallery. I showed with Joan Tierney and believe me she is a very very good artist. She uses acrylic in a beautiful way. I am sorry this photo is not a very good one but I am happy to be writing this blog. I have been so troubled with my computer lately and Marie came over to help me and i think I've got it. We hope.
Sorry for all this. This photo is not very good but the colored pencil drawing is. I am having a real hard time to get my photos. Since now that the blog information has so changed I am having a wicked time downloading my newer photos. When the blog had one word browse I could just upload what I wanted but not now. I am very frustrated.
Enough complaining. I have been drawing lots more than painting. I am really loving going back to my drawing. I have at least four new CP drawings to share with you when I learn how to download them.
Hi Everyone, Sorry I am so behind. Here is a painting of Eggplants that I really had fun painting. In fact I have done two of them and they both sold. My opening at East Colony Fine Art on Friday night went really well. My partner Joan and I made a great duo. I am a little behind as I would like to upload the drawings I did for the show but can't seem to do it. I showed all colored pencils and I sure would like to show you. Till then, have a wonderful weekend.
I have been an artist for as long as I can remember. I went to college when I was 37 years old. I loved it so much, I was a sponge and absorbed anything and everything about art. I started out wanting to be a portrait artist but ended up using pencil and colored pencils. I made quite a name for myself with my drawings. I won many awards. When I needed a break from that I went into oil sticks and just loved them and again did very well with awards. I finally went back to my oils but always felt frustrated with them I wanted to be free from all constraints, I am now working in acrylics and loving them. So now the sky is the limit. I just want to go and do everything I feel and want to express.
