Three Plums, Acrylic,6" x 6"

Here are the plums I had a hard time painting them. Some days are harder than others. It has been a slow day too. I need a good book. Classes start next week and I am looking forward to seeing all my friends/students. I am looking forward to my next painting and maybe that one will pull me out of this slump.

Hi Jeanne,
I see a difference in the energy of your plums from what was in your iris. These three lucious little fruits look like their waiting in quiet, contemplative stillness, perhaps for that bite. The iris shows a fearless vibrancy and aesthetic similar to the seeds of your dramatic pumpkin painting. Not all our pictures are about the same kind of energy, so just go with the flow -- your focus now is on reflection. It's just part of your broad range of realism that I love so much.

Hi Jeanne,

I went into a slump after my last one, so I started with a new medium, watercolor. I think I was too focused and kept limiting myself. Watercolor felt like playtime and I wanted to pull myself out of being too serious. Painting with watercolor makes me use a different process to get the results I need, and I think it pulled me out of the rut. Plus, it's been so gorgeous outside, I've been wanting to do just quick little paintings so I can go outside and play. You might be thinking too much about the start of school, also. Just do what you feel like doing most. I'm glad you posted anyway, it's nice to see others go through what I do sometimes.

Try Beginner's Luck by Laura Pedersen. That is a great cheerful book.
